STYLE INSPIRATION; Isabel Lucas.

When I was about fourteen, I went through a phase of absolutely loving Home and Away.  As with many of you perhaps, this is where I first came across Isabel Lucas, as she played the role of Tasha Andrews in the Australian soap.

I have to admit, I would never have picked Lucas out as being a style icon.  Sure she was pretty, tanned and skinny, but fashionable?  Not particularly.  However, recently I saw some photos of her in Grazia attending Coachella with boyfriend Angus Stone, and I was pleasantly surprised by her seemingly new-found fashion forwardness.

Looking chic even in a pair of denim shorts and a sweater.

I'm loving this nude maxi dress paired with a cropped lace top.

Lucas channelling her inner hippie with this dip-dyed maxi skirt.

THIS IS A LOOK WHICH IS EASILY EMULATED;

MinkPink 'Trim&Terrific' maxi dress; £80, ASOS.

Renewal Turn-Up Denim Shorts; €40, Urban Outfitters

Orchid Lace Tee; $48, Nasty Gal.

Rose Headband; £8.50, Miss Selfridge

(Basically, just think floaty, airy maxi skirts and crochet; you could really see the impact of the returning 70's and hippie trends at Coachella this year)

Isabel also has ombre hair to die for;

5 Ultimate FASHION CRIMES.

NEENAW, NEENAW; FASHION POLICE.

CRIME #1; Leggings as pants
I absolutely hate it when I see someone wearing leggings as pants.  Unless they are of the jegging/tregging variety, leggings should not be worn as an alternative to jeans.  They are unflattering at the best of times, and are only acceptable when worn with a top which covers the rear-end area.
To sum up my point; leggings fail to qualify as trousers.
(Think camel toe and unsightly VPL)

Jennifer Love committing the ultimate crime.

CRIME #2; Looking 'Jersey Shore'
Everybody loves the occasional episode of Jersey Shore; at least in secret they do.  But though you may love watching Snooki's antics on the screen, does not mean you should try and emulate her style.
Over-tanning, too much cleavage, and tight man-tanks are definite no-nos when it comes to styling yourself.

Snooki

CRIME #3; Over-Plucked Eyebrows
Most young girls will one day find themselves realizing that something has to be done about the two bushes growing above their eyes.  They will borrow their mother's tweezers and attack their eyebrows in a long session of bedroom plucking.  Big mistake.
Over-plucked eyebrows are a big no-no in the fashion world nowadays.  Let them grow back, before it's too late.

I came across this tragedy on Google images.

CRIME #4; Excess Makeup
I love makeup, I really do.  But sometimes I see the most heinous crimes being committed against the cosmetics world.  Orange tidemarks, panda eyes, clumpy mascara; we've seen it all.  Makeup is amazing, and most certainly complimentary when used in the right quantity.

Taylor Momsen looking like she let a five year old loose on her eyes with a Sharpie.

CRIME #5; Ill-Fitting Clothing
It's always tempting to buy something if it's dirt cheap, or if you love it but they only have it in one size too small.  But it's not worth it.  By wearing ill-fitting clothes, you're really not doing yourself any favours.  Make sure your jeans are long enough, and that nothing is so tight that you're struggling to breathe.

Mmmm.

SUMMERTIME, Soak Up The Sunshine With You.

Trying to study with this beautiful weather is beyond depressing.

Because my boyfriend Peter is in the same boat, and living in the same accommodation as me, we've worked out a nice routine;
study for two hours, take a two hour lunch break in which we walk to Rathgar and get sandwiches at Bijoux deli, which we then eat outside, study for another two hours, then take an ice-cream break, study for an while longer before we have dinner, and then do about an hour after we've eaten.
A nice schedule revolving around food and sun; not so bad, though I'm sure he's making much more use of the actual study time than I am.

This week, I'm finding it impossible to tear my mind away from summer to focus on books.  Who else is finding it difficult to care about college exams when they could be planning their holiday?

Here are some nice summery things to remind us all of the sun-drenched world which lies at the end of the dark tunnel of academia (lol)

[On the upside of today, I found out this morning that I won Sinead Lally's giveaway on her blog Fashion House; I'm delighted of course!]

Elisabeth Sladen (1 Feb 1946–19 April 2011)

Elisabeth Sladen, best known for her role as Sarah Jane Smith in Doctor Who and The Sarah Jane Adventures, has died at the age of 63, according to reports from BBC News. I first read the devastating news over at io9, which was followed up with an e-mail from a fellow Doctor Whovian (Kara) over at The Adventure of Two Girls in Love. Fans of both the original and the re-booted series have lost a treasured companion this week—a fact that now casts such a dark light over the Series 6 premiere this weekend. Rather than mourn our loss as fans of the series, now is the time to remind ourselves about the remarkable life Elisabeth Sladen led.

I stumbled across this interview Elisabeth Sladen (and her friend K-9) gave on the BBC kids' show, Blue Peterat this point, Sladen had returned to the Doctor Who franchise for an episode titled "School Reunion" (2006), in which Sarah Jane finally confronts the Doctor for leaving her behind on Earth. I do believe this interview occurred before The Sarah Jane Adventures even existed, a series that secured her place as the most popular companion known to the Doctor Who universe. I thought the clip offered great insight into the warmth and sweetness Sladen possessed that became her trademark as the clever, motivated Sarah Jane. (In addition, you get a glimpse into an odd TARDIS-based kids' craft):

She will be deeply missed across the generations of Doctor Who fans. Rest in peace, Elisabeth Sladen.

WHAT'S IN MY BAG?

Yes indeed, I'm jumping on the bandwagon because I love reading these posts on other people's blogs so much.

I realise this isn't the most attractive photo of all time, however, by the time I realised this, I was far too lazy to lay everything out again to take another photo.

Umbrella; I carry this everywhere, obviously- it is Ireland after all.
Comb; I usually bring a comb with me, because I often wear my hair a little bit messed up.
French dictionary; I study French in college.
Digital camera; I carry my camera in case I want to do an outfit post or something.
Memory stick
iPod; I listen to music at every available moment, so I always carry this.
Tissues
A4 pad; I can't use spiral notebooks because I'm left-handed and it's super awkward.
Planner; I would be absolutely lost without my planner, it keeps track of my life!
Phone
Neurofen
Ray Bans; for the increasingly frequent sunny day
Pens/highlighter; I love Staedtler.
Extra Ice gum
M&S lemon hand sanitizer
MAC lip conditioner; absolute must have for me!
Hair elastic
Wallet;  this holds my student card, room key, credit cards, ID, money etc. etc.

Spring Semester Finish Line!

All the bright children with balloons, all the spectators with those irritating plastic noisemakers—all of the cheering for me as I take the final sprint toward the spring semester finish line, WHEEEEEEE!

*Disclaimer: Miz Moffatt may or may not the buff goddess-of-a-runner pictured above. She will let you decide.

I admit, I have ONE. MORE. ASSIGNMENT. LEFT. *Groans in the general direction of her calendar* Let me tell you, though, I was in quite a state of euphoria when I wrapped up those two other courses last week. But oh, the sheer surge of excitement waiting to overwhelm me this coming Saturday morning when I submit my last assignment for the semester… *Snickers, drools a little for good measure*

And then I get to start it all over again on May 7th when I start the official summer semester. Ha, I am a lunatic. But, that's what you love about me, isn't it?

As for regular posts on the blog, I have finally clawed out some free time in which to update Cute, Queer, Canadian. Ah, I have missed these pages, and I have missed out on about four months of updates from my favourite bloggettes and bloggers. But no more! No more, I say.

Beautiful women should never be put on hold—and so, Cute, Queer, Canadian enters its revival period. Glad to see you all again. *Fireworks*

Ombre Hair

I really want ombre hair, like Lily Aldridge here. with my colouring, i think caramel would suit me more than full on blonde at the end. Only thing is, i won't be colouring my own hair but the weave. This will be one interesting process...

Stay tuned.

A PICTURE is worth a THOUSAND WORDS.

Makeup HAUL.

Recently, I've accumulated quite a few new products, all of which I really like.
Part of the reason I've gotten so much makeup as of late, is because I've had two balls, both of which I got my makeup done for; the first in Chanel and the second in Mac.
Both counters require a purchase of at least €40 worth in return for doing your makeup, which really isn't a bad deal.
So, here's what I got.

Chanel Pro Lumiere foundation in "10 Limpide- Nude"

Chanel Quadra Eye Shadow in "14 Mystic Eyes"

MAC lipsticks in;
"Vegas Volt" (coral)
&
"Cyber" (deep purple)

MAC "Mineralize Skinfinish Natural" pressed powder in Light/Medium

Topshop Nails in "War Paint" (fluoro-coral)

It's definitely going to be a while before I need to buy any new makeup!
What are the products that you can't live without?
