Vision of an Action Girl

... Because I ought to come with a warning silkscreened to my clothes.

Right -- I know it is Tuesday. I know I often dedicate this space to Tunes for Tuesdays, and the oh-so-lovely women of music. I know I might have an uprising on my hands à la Bastille Day, 1789.

But I forge on in the face of adversity -- and in the face of kickass, fangirl-worthy artwork.

I was tipped off to this artist via the science/general nerddom portal known as io9. Some might argue the site doubles as a vortex as it tends to draw us of the nerd persuasion into its sweet, steely grip for hours on end. Little did I know a queer gal could find a succulent piece of artistic wizardry to lure her further into io9's grasp...

Bill Mudron is a freelance artist with an impressive résumé and an eye for powerhouse women in the action, science fiction, and fantasy genres. According to his website, Mudron has worked for Disney Interactive Studios, Electronic Gaming Monthly, and LeapFrog Toys among other major companies. In addition, he designed the artwork for Jasper Fforde's alt-lit novels, The Fourth Bear and Thursday Next: First Among Us Sequels. Of course, Mudron has his own prints for sale via his website and, oh girl -- I know a number of ladies out there would be tempted to purchase a few.

He has crafted a series of potent eye-candy for our favourite series including Doctor Who, Firefly, Battlestar Galactica, Star Trek, and some Neil Gaiman-related fan art. The following samples can be found at Bill Mudron's Flickr stream, and I suggest you click over there if your keyboard doesn't fizzle out from the drool pooling off your chin right now...

Doctor Who

Amy Pond shows us her Art Nouveau reinvention (or, should I say regeneration, a heh). Based on Mudron's Flickr stream, he loves queering Doctor Who, and I am receptive to this delightful twist on the sci fi classic. Mudron even imagines the Thirteenth Doctor as a stunning, timey-wimey lass... just sayin', you might want to click over there now....

Catwoman

Our favourite feline femme receives a Christopher Nolan-esque update for the new Dark Knight series. Catwoman proves hot in both her classic, leather form, and her new no-nonsense, butch self. *Drool*

Battlestar Galactica

Starbuck in fine form as always. What on Earth would a space-age apocalypse be without a cigar-chomping, tank top-wearing Dream Girl of the queer girls? It would be desolate and overrun with Cylons is what.

Neil Gaiman's Sandman Series

Death, as imagined in Neil Gaiman's Sandman series, is hot in her original form. Mudron has effectively bent the laws of physics and made this character even hotter. Sir, I am impressed. I am also appreciative that this man has an eye for the queer with this fine-tailored vision of our girl, Death. I mean, damn.

So, you understand why I had no choice but to post about Bill Mudron, am I right? His art situates itself as the perfect companion to gay geeks the world over.

No trouble, you can thank me in the comments. *Grin*
