what I've Been Up To

Well...lately I have been busy 'swarming' London. Run by the National Youth Theatre 'Swarm' is an ensemble piece which centres around the decline of the world's bee population(Einstein said that if the bees die, Humans only have 4yrs to live)So dressed as Businessmen and Beekeppers we swamrmed the capitals landmarks and made die Gegend unsicher!

I feel really lucky that I'm part of such a great experience. The people I've met on this have been just short of amazing. Although it was a bit tedious @ first I must say swarm has been a valuable experience!

Martha Wainwright vs. Liam Frost

It is not a well-kept secret that I love me some Martha Wainwright. She's a gorgeous blend of Canadian folk and American brass, with a little touch of la langue romantique to sweeten the senses -- FYI, she does Edith Piaf proud with her latest album, Sans fusils, ni souliers, à Paris (2009).

Could there be a single bit more of me left to fall in love with Ms. Wainwright?

ENTER: Liam Frost, a British singer with the foresight (and the necessary good graces of Fate herself) to provide the world with a new song in which Martha Wainwright is a fearsome, fantastic featured artist.

And, with queer lenses lowered and a good dose of same-sex pronouns in the chorus , I would suggest, perhaps, that a gay gal could find utmost pleasure in the rousing track to follow. I introduce, "Your Hand in Mine":

See now, rather than assuming this sparkling, danceable Brit-pop-meets-rock track is another notch on the ol' "hetero-love song" belt, I offer some queer insight -- how much more compelling would the track be if both the male and female singer were chasing after the SAME woman?

I imagine the video filled with the dreams of two pals, heads swimming with the thoughts of the same Lady Love until -- *GASP*! It is revealed in the end that both their hearts beat for the same sweet vision.

I know -- I like my version of music videos better, too.

(Though, we all know -- Martha Wainwright would be the lover victorious in any battle with the boys. Don't deny it, now.)

Egads.

Surprising how the seasons sneak up on a mild-mannered, negligent blogette such as myself.

I am pleased to report there are five weeks left in the current administrative work contract and that, come September, I will be attending a fine Canadian educational establishment to learn the rigours of the publishing world.

So, progress = yes. The months of reeling over what to do and where to go and how to focus myself are now resolving, at least a touch. I admit, the act of choosing and the commitment in the decision have offered a sort of calm. It is done. I am traveling toward that choice. Mmm, fresh start out of the ashes of this summer. Sheer brilliance, I tell you.

I have more to mull over in different facets, but those ramblings are best saved for another time and another place. As for blogging, I come prepared with topics for this week and with the hope I won't let another three-week stretch of silence mar this space.

So, until then, I will doff my hat and return to the last few chapters of Ray Bradbury's, From The Dust Returned.
