5 Things I Can't Live Without At The Moment; #4, Retro Jules.

Julia of Retro Jules lets us in on the 5 things she can't live without at the moment.

Music- 80's Music!  Regular visitors to my blog will note how much I love my retro music; and I have a bit of a tendency to gravitate towards that decade.  When I'm not listening to MFR (a radio station in Scotland), I listen to Absolute Radio 80s, which is, urm, a 80s station!  Whilst I'm not a fan of modern music, I do like music from the 90s and the 70s, too.  Madness, The Human League, Michael Jackson, New Order, Madonna, Black Box (remember Ride on Time?!) and even Kylie -  I love them all!

Fashion- At the moment, I'm always wearing my velvet blazer that I got a few years' ago as a jacket - perfect for in-between seasons and for when I want to look smarter!!

Food- I can't live without the humble teacake.  the perfect pick-me-up after a long hard day at work.  And, as it's only 100 calories, I can afford to have my (tea) cake & eat it! :)

Beauty- I'm a lipgloss junkie; and, whilst I aim to maintain my fuller lips à la Andrea Corr, I always plump for Soap & Glory's MotherPucker lip gloss in Nude.  It actually works, plus it doesn't break the bank, too!

Random- My iPod.  I'm thinking about investing into an iPhone; and am currently testing my old iPod touch out (i.e. with the calendar and some apps) into seeing if it's a worthwhile investment.  Plus, I can't live without my music; and now I've got my iPod dock, I've got it on most of the day, even if I'm just playing music!

5 Things I Can't Live Without At The Moment; #3, Sinead Lally.

Sinead Lally of her style diaries lets us in on the 5 things she can't live without at the moment.

1.  My iPhone- its pretty much my best friend in a technology kind of way. I swore I would never get a touch screen but that all changed when  I got my hands on my iPhone (first addition)  It's amazing! I can preeetty much do everything I want on it. Even blog!

2.  Dermologica Products- I've tried lots of products over the years and nothing compares to these. My skin feels great after using them. I have a big collection and I mix them up every other day to get all the benefits from them.

3.  Nikon P100- without a doubt- my baby. I always have this in my bag. I used to own a bigger slr but downsized recently to a more moderate one that also fits nicely into my bag. I'm a pathological picture-taker for sure!

4.  Flowerbomb- a scent close to my heart. When i met my "boy" in Sicily (at our best friends wedding, he's not Italian!) in 2006 where we fell in love (I know, puke button) he bought me this while over there and every time I smell it it reminds me of that time and gives me great memories. I cannot and will not live without this. It's my smell memory. :)

5.  My Diary- Probably another thing that I cannot and will not live without. I rely on this everyday and it takes me through the year without fail and forsees that I get everything done on time and to the best of my abilities! yeah right! but it tries....

An Open Letter to Zoe Saldana

Dearest Zoe Saldanda,

I am indeed impressed—I knew the silver screen would benefit from your particular brand of science fiction–inflected ass-kickery, but your transformative qualities have proven effective on television, too. I meant to review the highlights from the 83rd Annual Academy Awards with this post; however, all thoughts of Hollywood's glitziest evening were rendered meaningless following your appearance Rachael Ray's talk show this afternoon.

Now, I am the first to admit I am not on the healthiest terms with Ms. Ray's peculiar daytime hodge-podge termed a "talk show"—I often consider it an affliction akin to a boil in need of quick, ruthless removal (but I am not writing to discuss politics, of course). No, I was kept at an otherwise bothersome television station for the rare gift of an interview held with you, Ms. Saldana. And, my word, what a stunning ten minutes.

To start: those science fiction/action credentials continue to astound. We know you owned the Universe as Uhura in the new Star Trek flick, and we know you somehow made an alien species hot as the Na'vi warrior, Neytiri, in that small film known as Avatar. Now, you will add international assassin to the CV with your upcoming role in the action thriller, Colombina. You know how I feel about femme girls who kick ass, and the new stills promise a great deal of said attractive qualities.

Next: a refreshing discussion about your childhood science fiction obsessions. While other girls dreamt of becoming plain ol' stars, you cited your admiration for Sigourney Weaver as Warrant Officer Ripley in the Alien franchise. You also made a shout-out to Frank Herbert's influential Dune series, which you have read—multiple times. The nerd-heart embedded in me skipped, Ms. Saldana.

And last: CALVIN. KLEIN. UNDERWEAR. MODEL.

Of course, I would be neglectful if I didn't mention your newfound passion for archery, a hobby you indulge in for kicks on weekends. You are a veritable Renaissance woman, I do believe.

I don't know how such a fun-lovin' nerd girl flourished into a full-blooded film star, but I am ever-so thankful. I am willing to reassess previous impressions of Rachael Ray's show given your insights from this afternoon—it is the least I can do given the delight you ignite.

Revlon Nail Varnish & Lipstick

I thought I was smiling here...
Lately, I've bee really into Nail Varnish. This is Revlon's 050 White On White. I really like it, although I was a bit worried about my nails looking a bit TipEx-ish, but 

On my lip, Revlon's 663 Va Va Violet, it's a dark dark plum ( darker than in the picture) and it's different. I like it.

Apart from that Uni is doing my head in, I have no drive for it whatsoever...exams soon... :(

Music- The Small Faces - Mod music and fine threads.. What more inspiration do I need... Oh wait, beautiful lyrics too!

Fashion- A vintage Gypsy Rose Lea tasselled shawl. My mother gave it to me for Christmas and all I do is take it out of my wardrobe and look at it everyday...

Food- Marmite on hot buttery toast... I’m a full-on Marmite lover, I could never love a man who hated Marmite!

Beauty- Jo Malone tea blends perfume – Namely Early Grey and Cucumber, these fragrances are absolutely addictive; last summer I couldn't get enough of their English Pear and Freesia cologne, it just reminds me of summer. (Image via beaut.ie)

Random- Friends & Reunions - A very dear friend of mine is just back from her year in Oz and I've missed her heaps. It's so good having her back!
