Break out the red and white, kids -- this sweet nation of ours has hit its 143th birthday and it is best to celebrate with an evening out on the patio under the bright lights of the fireworks.Granted, I know our government has a strange way of honouring the creation of our nation -- somehow, the introduction of the HST seemed a touch ill-timed across the provinces. Nothing like waking up to an extra 8% tax on.... well, just about everything sold in Ontario. I hesitate to even glance at the tax rates in British Columbia and Nova Scotia, let alone the rest of Canada.
But, at least for one night, we can still sink into our Behr chairs and bask in our shared experience as Canadians.
You might just want to add a few straws into that pint tonight and share it with friends, you know, to cut costs.
